"Art has taught me all I know about life. In the age of false idols and meaninglessness, this is my sacred space, my place of freedom, my connection to the eternal, creative forces."
Mariam Zakarian
is a Danish-Armenian multidisciplinary visual artist.
She is autodidactic and besides drawing and painting, she works with photography, film, virtual reality, performances, installations and rituals. Her artistic roots are in figurative genres infused with the strange and surreal, brimming with visual metaphors and carefully constructed layers of symbolism.
She is the creator of the first Danish virtual reality installation,
Amaryllis VR
, and the founder and curator of
BLACKLANDS,
a recurring group exhibition in the color black.
Working on the personal projects
UNATUR
and
AMARYLLIS,
the artist explores topics as diverse as mortality, the intricate beauty of the natural world, timeless stories and archetypes from old myths and folktales.
Creating is a deeply personal process for Zakarian, who dedicated herself to art from early childhood. Because of this, most of the original works are not sold.
It therefore became necessary to offer art prints which reproduce the originals in the highest quality possible.
This is an independent shop mostly run by the artist herself.
Prints are usually made to order and available in small quantities.
Each print has undergone a rigorous process of quality control, and is made to fill a home with an elegant, timeless touch,
to encourage dreams, to offer the beauty of natural, organic forms, and of delicate, human expression.
The details and the depth of color in these archival art prints utilize technical standards used by art museums.
Each piece is scanned and color-matched to the original artwork by the artist before printing on acid-free, archival quality paper with fine pigments. These raw materials are carefully selected for longevity, and if properly cared for, the prints will last for up to 100 years without fading, yellowing or losing details.
Orders are shipped from the moody city of Copenhagen, Denmark, where a rainy veil descends on the quiet streets for most of the year, and precious, soft sunrays make spiderwebs glow.
